Lyrics
Grandpa chewing his Redman
50 years a welder showed in his hands
A lifetime of hunting and fishing
He often shared with this little man
Grandma sneaking a smoke
Peach pie and shake and bake
A loving home with family and friends
A love you could not mistake
I don't recall ever hearing the words
No I never heard them say
But I always saw the love they felt
Until their final day
There's an old couple on a park bench
Two good ole boys having coffee
A great-grandma talks to a young bride
A world war 2 vet shares his story
Growing old was always part of my plan
Something to look forward to
To share the wisdom and knowledge of life
I always hoped I could do
We were just 17 on our first date
But I think I already knew
Ten thousand people surrounded us
Yet all I could see was you
Almost seven years we shared then our first son was born
Those first few years were pretty wild
Six more year and our family had grown
You blessed me with our third child
Growing old was always part of my plan
It's now something I'm living through
From our first date to this very day
I'm so lucky to share it with you
Now our youngest is in high school
Our middle son just returned from war
Our first son has given us grandkids
From life I could ask no more
I will cherish the years that lie ahead
As together we turn old and grey
All the love, the laughter, and the tears
Which have yet to come our way
Growing old is my plan
Something I still look forward to
But the only way I want to grow old
Is if I can share it with you.
