The Weight of Wings

Verse 1: They told me I was built for the ground Feet too heavy, dreams too loud But something in my chest kept beating Like it knew what they had not found That the weight we carry doesn't hold us down It teaches us how strong we've grown And the very thing that breaks us Becomes the only way we're shown Verse 2: I've been crawling through the darkness With my hands against the stone Every time I thought I'd made it I found further left to go But the distance isn't punishment It's proving what I'm made of And every single step I take Is one more step toward love Chorus: The weight of wings Is heavier than anyone knows The weight of wings Before we learn how flying goes But I'll carry mine through the fire Through the doubt, through the fall Because the weight of wings Is worth it after all Bridge: (Building, emotional) And when I finally lift off From the ground that held me tight I'll remember every stumble That prepared me for this flight Not in spite of what I carried But because of what I bore The weight of wings becomes the lift That's what the weight was for Final Chorus: The weight of wings Is lighter now that I can see The weight of wings Was always building up to me And I'll carry them forever Through the storms and through the clear Because the weight of wings Brought me here Finally here Outro: (Soaring, triumphant) Rising up, rising up The weight of wings
